Ways I embrace my audience

Well, obviously I don’t know who my audience is. I have a separate space for my personal blogging, and I blog mostly in Chinese over there. But, let’s say I have audience now and what would I do?
#1 Keep posting updates
It’s very important to let your audience know that you’re still around and you just don’t have anything to say/ are too busy lately. Just post something! Anything! Otherwise they would think that you’ve abandoned your blog, and guess what? It will eventually become true. I’ve abandoned so many websites and blogs in the past.
#2 Write what I know well about
Why should I bother to blog about things that don’t matter in my life? I hate blogging for blogging. But it’s sad that I’m kind of doing this right now. Hopefully I will find my interest in blogging soon.
#3 Connect with them
One day, if I have more audience, I would follow them. I would connect with them.
Oh my god! This is sad! I can’t even think of anything to say about this topic! I didn’t want to copy others or elaborate on other people’s ideas, because then that’s totally no point.
I’ll just do a daily post later. ….

Ways I Embrace My Audience

At my daytime employment, my audience is not clearly defined. I report to 3 team leaders, 2 managers, and have a dozen coworkers with whom I interact on a daily basis. When dealing with these people, despite constant attempts to reduce this, every interaction is political in some way. What you say, and to whom you say it, always has an effect. This translates into you filtering everything you might consider saying, thinking, how can this possibly come back to haunt me?
At home, however, the interactions with my private clients is very different. I am, of course, striving to impress my clients with the quality of my work, my ability to meet and exceed expectations, and to complete all my projects within the provided budget. This, of course, is to benefit me more than them, as by doing all these things, I increase the likelihood that they will come back to me with more work, and refer me to others.
However, I try to take this one step further, which will increase the benefits just mentioned, but provide extra benefits to the client. When I am asked to work on a contract for a client, I try to understand my client’s business, and to determine the true nature of the problem I have been asked to solve. While the work I do may not change as a result of this, when I talk to the client, I can understand their point of view. I have managed to gain insight into their business, and to understand what it is that they do.
This sounds pretty basic, but not everyone does it. My clients like me not only because of the tangible work I do for them, but also because when they talk to me, they feel like they are talking to someone who understands what it is they do. This increases their confidence that I will produce a solution that meets their needs, and won’t waste time and money creating a solution that creates as many problems as it solves.

Ways I Embrace My Audience (Listeners)

#2 in the 100 blog topics is "Ways I Embrace My Audience" and I included listeners because I feel that it's more apt for me.
This particular topic actually makes me think and look back into what I have tried to do over the years and take stock of how effective it has become... or not.
Off the top of my head, I can think of a few things.
1. The silverfilter Yahoogroups : I guess this is one of the very first things I did waaay back when I started the SF project. This was aimed to get the listeners together in a list and have an open communication with them. But at this point, I don't know if this model still works after almost 8 years :(
2. The official silverfilter website : I built this waaay back as well. If you've followed the site's progression over the years however, you would've noticed that it's been changed from scratch I believe 3-5 times already. The current one which you see on silverfilter.com is the one I'm keeping and it has proved to be most effective and informative. There may be some things to be addressed but it's getting there. But generally, I'm happy with it.
The purpose of the site is to create a main point of reference for anything silverfilter and everything springs out from there. Now anybody who doesn't know or are unaware of the other sites, channels, etc I have online can find out about those via the site. It's been an essential tool in embracing my listeners.
With the site, I am able to give away tunes, tutorials, tips, tricks, even free ringtones that I have made just to give more to the people who support what I do.
3. silverfilter monthly : this is an offshoot of the site in a way since it is a one page html file but this is sent with valuable updates for the month, a tutorial, an album review, a track review/feature, and more.
4. Social networks (Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, Uvumi, T61, Reverbnation, bandcamp, etc) Most of the sites mentioned here are the only ones I am on. Unfortunately, it's hard managing all of them so some of the sites, I rarely frequent these days. Perhaps when things pick up I can try to have a balanced way of being active on all of them. (please read my entry on how I use facebook for more)
5. Merchandise : If you've seen me perform live or have talked to me in person, you might have received the freebies I usually hand out during shows from the silverfilter pins to the free stickers. It's my way of saying thanks and at the same time empowering my listeners and supporters to be a tool in helping promote my act.
6. Podcasts : On occasion, I try to produce audio podcasts. Some are interviews so that people can find out a thing or two about what I do. I also have audio only tutorials or recorded sessions of talks I have done. Some just talk about music in general and I plan to upload more live performance recordings as well.
7. Take One (the YouTube show) : to date, this is the latest thing I have created to add to the things I do to embrace my listeners and show my appreciation and thanks as well as extend a helping hand. Take One is a weekly show covering various tutorials for music production. As I have picked up on a lot of things offline and online, I decided to create a channel to address the needs of producers so that I can be able to share the things I've learned or discovered on my own. It is mainly based around Propellerhead Reason and Record but eventually, I do plan to cover Ableton and Logic as well as the other pieces of software I use.
Now my question is, how effective are these in "embracing" my listeners? What do you think? Do I need to do more? What other things can you suggest I do?

Ways I Embrace My Audience

There are various ways that people use to hold their audience. I do it with my writing. Although, some people say that I can hold people’s attention with my personality. Some say that I can do it by other various things. But I believe that to hold audiences’ attention, writing plays a huge role. There have been several examples when inspiring people came and inspired the whole world with their inspirational words. What makes me a strong candidate when it comes to writing is that I have a very strong command of persuasive writing. I am really good with expressing my feelings, emotions and everything that I want to express.
It all started with my letters. When I wrote a letter to my English teacher, who was leaving the school due to her pregnancy, she was the first person who told me that I have magic in my writing. I was so stunned to get that remark from her because at that time, I could not even write one sentence without a grammar or spelling mistake.  I told her that she is kidding with me and how could that be. But she told me that although I am really weak in English and I have a long way to go, but she said, “I am not talking about how good you are in English, what I am saying is that you are amazing in expressing your emotions and feelings through writing.” I didn’t understand what she really meant, but now so many years after, I know what a deep sentenced she said to me.
After her, my dad was the second one who said that I have magic in my writing. After him, it was my love of life and when she said it, I trusted her that yes, I do have something in my writing that not everyone has. When I realized that I could express so much through my writing, I worked harder to improve my writing. Now I believe that I am good enough to write legibly, I feel that writing is one of my strongest ways to embrace my audience. I have a strong feeling that I can do a lot with my writing. I have already made many people smile, cry, laugh, giggle and change from a bad person to good. Other than writing, I am also strong in communicating with people in person.
I can also embrace my audience by signing. Yes, it sounds a bit awkward, but is a fact. I have done it several times in past and I am very confident that I can do it again. I believe that just like writing, music has its own magic in it. It has power to express. It has the power to make anyone cry, smile, laugh, giggle. It can make a simple person into a gangster, and a gangster into a simplest guy.
Therefore, these are my three strongest ways to embrace my audience. I can write, sing or just communicate with them in person to get a hold of them.  It sounds very simple as I am writing, but I know that it is one of the hardest things in the world. I know that I will have to go through many obstacles to accomplish in this goal. But I am confident and I believe in myself. And most of all, all my loved once believe that I have the potential to do it, after that, nothing can be difficult.

2 Ways I Embrace My Audience

Embracing my Audience1. I share great information on a daily basis. The only way I can do this is by knowing who they are and what their goals might be. In order to get to know them, I ENGAGE. By engaging, I learn about them. When I “get” them, I share stuff I think might help them learn more from me. In the process, I learn something as well. What a great win-win!
2. I promote them. If I see good stuff posted out there by members of my audience which I think will benefit those within my tribe, I’m happy to share it so we can all learn something that day that might help us all move ahead faster.
What do you do to embrace YOUR audience?
FUNNY NOTE: I just noticed something really funny as I was going back to Chris’ original list at http://www.chrisbrogan.com/100-blog-topics-i-hope-you-write/ This blog post idea was number 2. I read it as “2 Ways I Embrace My Audience!” So I guess I could have added a few more, but I actually think this turned out fine this way. If you have a few more to throw in, by all means…

Ways I Embrace My Audience.

Not abiding that I can absolve Mr Brogan for this gem. It is proving a little added arduous than usual. Better catechism is how I can chronicle this to aplomb or cocky esteem? I am academic that the aboriginal catechism was aimed at those who blog for profit, which is not my ambition actuality anyway, so I will alter my focus accordingly!
If you are account this, again you are allotment of my audience. Accepting been a trainer for the aftermost 15 years, I am acclimated to the abstraction of accepting my accumulation of trainees as my audience. The botheration was that they were generally there below sufference (after all, it was mortgage training!)
So attractive at a broader perspective, we all accept an audience. Everyone we appear into acquaintance with on-line or in the absolute world. Hence my attack to advance a little acumen actuality is about how attainable (embracing) you are, and how bodies would apperceive at aboriginal afterimage by the clues that you are giving them.
You accept apparently heard the byword “you alone accept 30 abnormal to accomplish a aboriginal impresssion”? I consistently wondered how they could accessible admeasurement that, and I was already told that it came from the 1960 agitation amid JFK and Nixon – behindhand of your political persuasion, how do you appetite your admirers to percieve you?
In my canicule as an angel consultant, I was consistently got a accession from suggesting baby changes that bodies could accomplish to their angel to abutment the angel that they capital to portray. It is a little like acting in advanced of an audience, back you put on a apparel for the role (business clothing or black dress) and acclimatize your composition accordingly. My biggest, but best agreeable transformation, was back alive with a beautifully airish aged admirer in a tweed clothing who was absolutely a cross-dresser. He looked actual altered in a wig and clover dress!
But in accession to the angel you present to the apple (and if you assert on all-over tatoos, ripped denim or the most recent vampire look, don’t be afraid back abounding bodies cannot attending below your bluff to analyze the balmy and caring being that hides beneath), there is additionally what you alone angle for. What are your amount values?
I am currently alive on a collective adventure with Lynda Hill, (host of the accepted BNNTV’s Studio Chat affairs on Dating) to actualize a branch on Claimed Branding, which will tie angel into what you appetite to be accepted for – your claimed brand. Will you be apparent as JFK or Nixon? Will your admirers appetite to embrace you?
Oh yes, and never balloon the amount of your smile!

4 Ways I Embrace My Audience

Ways I Embrace My Audience

Social media means making those who interact with you part of your community. I love to respond to those to make an effort to connect with me. The connection is an embrace – a collective understanding that we have enough in common to communicate with each other.
Here are four methods I use to embrace my audience:

I respond.

When someone sends me a personal message, on Twitter, e-mail, or Facebook, I make every effort to respond to them promptly if warranted. It’s amazing how many people appreciate a simple response. I know I do, so why wouldn’t my audience?
Mark Schaefer, over at {grow} responds to almost every single comment he gets on his blog, even the bad ones. That’s incredible.

I ask questions.

Whether it’s for advice on a new product I should try or help in deciding what book to read next, I ask questions that my audience can easily answer. I sometimes ask questions at the end of my blog posts to generate conversation with my readers. A while back,  I asked my audience to help me decide which book to read next. I got a ton of responses because the question was simple and interactive.

I welcome new Twitter followers personally.

I loathe automated DMs when I follow someone – Those, “Hey! Thanks for following me! Check out my website at www. . .!” That tells me you’re too busy to connect and engage.
Instead, I chose to welcome new followers by sharing them with my audience:

Sometimes they respond:

I thank people out loud.

When someone retweets or shares something of mine, I try and thank them publicly. Look at this exchange: (read from bottom to top):

A simple and vocal thanks does more for me and the recipient than any other kind of gratitude.
Embracing your audience means making them an active member of your community.

Think about how you interact with your audience. Do you embrace them? Share you methods.
